The Sthapna of the Lord Ganesha idol holds immense significance as Lord Ganesha is believed to usher in prosperity and happiness into homes. This year, the auspicious timing of Ganpati idol Sthapna is scheduled for September 19, from 11:07 AM to 01:34 PM, Following the installation, Lord Ganesha will be worshipped with utmost devotion and traditional rituals for ten consecutive days. Finally, on the last day of Anant Chaturdashi, which falls on September 28, 2023, the idol will be ceremoniously immersed in water.

– Ensure that your home is clean and that you have taken a purifying bath before bringing the idol of Lord Ganesha into your home.

– Place a Kalash filled with water and a coconut on top, beautifully adorned with betel leaves.

– Devotees have the flexibility to welcome Lord Ganpati for durations of 1.5 days, 3 days, 7 days, or 10 days.

– As Lord Ganpati is considered an honoured guest, ensure that all offerings, including food, water, and prasad, are presented to Him first.

– Prepare sattvic (pure and wholesome) food for the Lord, and offer it to the idol before partaking in it.

– Select an eco-friendly clay idol for Lord Ganesha, avoiding the use of artificial metallic colors.

– If there is no accessible waterbody nearby, immerse the Ganesha idol within your home, using a drum or a large bucket.

Don’ts for Ganesh Chaturthi 2023:

– During Ganpati Sthapna, both devotees and their family members should refrain from consuming garlic and onions.

– Lord Ganesha should never be left unattended at home; at least one family member should be present with Him.

– Wear fresh clothes.

– Do dhyaana (meditation) with closed eyes. 

– Offer your prayers.

– Keep a fast from sunrise. You may consume milk, fruits and vrata specific recipes. It would help if you refrained from consuming wheat, pulses and rice in any form.

– Offer the puja by invoking Shri Ganesha and request him to accept your humble offerings. You may then head to a temple.

– In the evening, before performing the puja, take a bath and wear clean clothes. Do dhyana and invoke the Almighty once again.

– Chant the mantras to perform the rituals.

– Offer a fresh piece of cloth, Janeyu, akshat, kumkuma, Chandan, haldi, flowers, Durva grass and incense sticks.

– Offer the Naivedhya consisting of Modaks, Ganesha’s favourite food preparation.
