Sports in India have seen an unprecedented interest from the corporate sector. And football is no different. Now, for the first time Subroto Cup organisers have attracted big corporate sponsorship.

Till recently, only public sector undertakings and banks have been sponsoring the Subroto Cup. This year, big sponsorship from Samsung, Adidas and Yamaha, along with ten other brands have enhanced the stakes in the premier inter-school football tournament.”It’s our pleasure and privilege to be associated with the Subroto Cup 2012 as a platinum sponsor. It also gives us an opportunity to connect with the youth in the country through the medium of football,” said Samsung India chief marketing officer Rahul Saighal.At a time administrators are gasping for ways to improve the football scene in India, the unprecedented corporate support to grass root players will certainly help in development of the game. The association of the corporate sector will also ensure big bonanza for the players. Samsung will dole out Galaxy Y phones to every player in the tournament. Mobiles will also be given out to winners of contests on radio. Other sponsors like Adidas will provide world class kits to the players for the first time ever. Tushar Goculdas, brand director, Adidas said, “we are proud to partner with Subroto Cup. We are deeply committed towards building India’s success as a football nation and are very excited to support India’s most promising talents that will be competing at this prestigious event.”Meanwhile, another sponsor Yamaha will give away newly launched gearless bikes to the best player and the most promising player of the tournament respectively. Besides, Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs and Govt of Delhi will continue to provide financial assistance like every year along with Central Bank, Syndicate Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Union Bank of India, NTPC and ONGC.
