From Racial Abuse To Multiple Injuries: Different Shades Of India-Australia Epic Series

In what will go down as one of the most memorable series in the history of Test cricket, the final day of the 4th Test between India and Australia witnessed plenty of ups and downs as India went on to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a three-wicket win over Tim Paine’s men at the Gabba. There is no lack of heroes in the series and their individual brilliance is in sync which has enabled the team to do better. But also had different emotions, let’s take look at the pictures:

Team India was dismissed for 36 on the 3rd day of the 1st Test at Adelaide.

Ajinkya Rahane, India’s stand-in captain after Virat Kohli left Australia, smashes a ton at Melbourne to get India back on track.

Shubhman Gill made his debut in Melbourne and instantly impressed both fans and critics with his impressive strokeplay and good technique.

Josh Hazlewood was the wrecker-in-chief with the pink ball, having finished with figures of 5-3-8-5, as India succumbed to a crushing eight-wicket loss.

India pacer Mohammed Siraj shone on debut to pick up five wickets in Melbourne.

Even as India kept losing wickets at the other end with batsmen trying to score freely, Pujara blocked one end. On his way to a 211-ball-56, he took quite a few blows to his body, each nastier than the last.

Racism reared its ugly head as some Indian players were subjected to discriminatory behaviour.

Hanuma Vihari and Ravichandran Ashwin, both in need of medical care, stood like a wall between the stumps and the bowlers to bat out for almost four hours on the final day of the Pink Test.

Steve Smith lands in new controversy, caught scuffing Rishabh Pant’s batting mark to damage pitch during 3rd test at SCG.

Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar’s record seventh-wicket partnership worth 123 runs gives India a fighting score.
