Meet Team India's New Kids On The Block Who Are In Contention For The World Cup

The 2019 World Cup is just around the corner and Team India is building its strengths ahead of the big event. Apart from our core set of players, there are a few new faces who are making a strong case for selection ahead of the tournament.

Team India has fresh blood

It’s a happy dilemma for the selectors as they are spoiled for choice and most importantly, the seniors cannot take their places for granted. So who are these guys? Let’s take a look at the newbies who are knocking on the doors hard to make a case for themselves:

1. Krunal Pandya

Hardik’s elder brother is proving to be a more than useful bowler and is not shy to give the ball a good bash. In a major tournament he could fill in the role of a finisher not to mention additional spinner.

2. Vijay Shankar

In the team as an all-rounder, he is fluent in his strokeplay. Not to mention can fill in the overs in the crucial middle stages of the innings. Definitely an option to consider

3. Khaleel Ahmed

Has pace and can produce important wickets. Tends to be expensive at times but is a captain’s dream when it comes to breaking partnerships.

4. Rishabh Pant

Already stamped as MS Dhoni’s successor, he is a fierce hitter, fluent finisher and also one of the best keepers we have. Not playing him is a waste of his talents.

5. Prithvi Shaw

At just 19, he is the youngest player around at the top level for us. On his way back after an injury he is definitely someone to consider if we are playing in foreign conditions.

6. Mayank Agarwal

Not a kid in the true sense of the term, but still has just made his entry into the side. Loves to play his shots and at the top of the order is certainly more than a handful for top quality bowlers.

7. Shubman Gill

The latest entry into the big leagues, reminds us a lot about Virat Kohli. No reason why he cannot end up in the playing XI next to Kohli himself if he works at it.
