Farewell Jony Ive: After 27 Years & Many Iconic Products, Apple's Design Guru Has Left Company

Apple as a brand tries and manages to stand out of the ordinary, particularly with the design of its products.

From the cool looking iPods to the iconic iPhones, Apple has always stayed away from the convention. And the mastermind behind its product design has been Jony Ive.

Earlier this year, Jony Ive had shared with the world that he would be leaving Apple to start his own venture, but there was no tentative date to this. However, looks like that day is finally here.

Taking a look at Apple’s leadership page, Jony Ive isn’t on the wall with other key people at Apple. Jony has been a part of Apple since 1996 and has been responsible to shell out cool and revolutionary looking devices. He was the brains behind the all-in-one form factor of the iMacs that still looks way ahead of its time.

Jony’s design language has been the trend followed by various smartphone makers — whether it is the notch or the use of an aluminium body or the dual cameras on the iPhone 7s. He is also the designer behind the out-of-the-world Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

However, now Jony Ive will put his heart and soul to his new venture, in collaboration with Marc Newson called LoveFrom. Apple isn’t letting go of Jony Ive anytime soon as it will be consulting LoveForm for all its designing needs.

Jony Ive had said in a statement to a leading financial news publication, “While I will not be an (Apple) employee, I will still be very involved – I hope for many, many years to come.”

Tim Cook said in a statement, “Apple will continue to benefit from Jony’s talents by working directly with him on exclusive projects, and through the ongoing work of the brilliant and passionate design team he has built.”
