Updated Media Picker

This new update betters the way we share content from our phones on to the messaging platform.

It was spotted on the Android version of the app when you try to capture an image from the in-app camera. It’ll take you to a screen that’s split between Recents and Gallery with the former having a list of media that you might have shared some time back.

The feature is still under development and hasn’t been released to other beta users yet. But it sure looks like it’ll make sharing media on the platform (at least on Android) a whole lot easier.

It is no secret that WhatsApp can shut down groups or users who are violating its Terms of Service. And WhatsApp claims to do this not by reading texts of the users — end-to-end encryption prevents that — but by other kinds of indicators like reports from users, questionable group names etc.

Earlier, when a WhatsApp group was ended, no one could send any messages in the group, neither could anyone join the group, making the group invite link unavailable.

However, a new screenshot shared by WABetaInfo reveals that a group invite link could become available once again if the group was shut down by mistake. The admin of the group can connect with WhatsApp support to double-check the reports and if it was actually a mistake on their part, they could restore the group invite link, allowing users to join again.

New animations

WhatsApp was also spotted testing subtle yet cool-looking animations on its Desktop app. The animations are available with WhatsApp for desktop beta UQP 2.2203.3.0.

Based on the report, the settings icon gets a new, smoother animation. Something similar is also seen when users move between different settings in the app. As per the report, future updates could see more of such tiny tweaks to make the UI feel fresh.
