This Dad Made A Device Called 'Frog', To Help His 2-YO Son With Spina Bifida Crawl Around

As he could not play like the way he used to do, a two-year-old’s father made his son a device called ‘Frog’ to play at the same spot on the floor and roam around his house. The device allows the baby to move around freely on his tummy just by using his arms.

Brody Moreland, from Missouri was diagnosed with Spina Bifida, a birth defect that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don’t form properly. Brody’s mother Ally said that he was diagnosed with this when she was 20 weeks pregnant.

Within a month of his birth, Brody spent 16 days in the NICU and received two back surgeries. The infant was also diagnosed with another condition called ‘Spinal Cord Atrophy’ which limits brain signals from going below his chest.

Taylor Moreland, Brody’s father, told Good Morning America, “It essentially means he’s paralyzed from the chest down.”

“We were devastated,” Ally said. “There was a lot of guilt and questions and worry; ‘What did I do wrong? Why did this happen to my child?'” The parents soon started to focus on how they could help their child.

Brody was then introduced to a scooter board last year which helped him crawl around with his hands but it would get stuck under it, making it difficult for him to move. Taylor thought to himself that he could make something better than this scooter board. “Just seeing him try to move, that sparked it. Then it was [a] relentless drive to get him crawling.”

After Taylor did a lot of hard work, ‘Frog’ was invented in September 2018. The device tilts up and down to move the child’s body which is strapped. It is recommended for children between the age group of 6 months to 5 years.

The Morelands also started their own company Frog Mobility LLC. About 20 children across the US are currently using the device. “Most of the kids who have them now, have found out through our network of physical therapists or our GoFundMe page,” Taylor Moreland said. “I never thought this would be something that would help another kid.”

This father also did something just to see the smile on his daughter’s face. He turned her wheelchair into a police car. Little Haylee Hauck was diagnosed with an epileptic condition that weakens her kidneys and eyes.

“I made it so that she can have fun,” Haylee’s father was quoted as saying by KDVR.

Dads are superheroes! As kids, we do not understand all the sacrifices that our fathers do for us and a lot of times we also do not appreciate his presence in our lives but he is one of the most selfless humans.
