On September 25 as part of the ‘Bharat Bandh‘ against the contentious farm bills, thousands of people come forward and stood with the farmers. Agricultural reform bills passed by the Parliament led to anger among farmers across the country. Not only did several farmers’ organisations stage protests, many celebrities too joined them.
Punjab farmers decided to hold a ‘rail roko’ agitation from September 24 to 26 in the state against the farm bills, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee general secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher told PTI.
Punjabi singers and many actors took to the streets to join farmer protests against the controversial farm bills.
Some religious organisations distributed food to farmers as they arrived to block the Chandigarh-Ludhiana National highway during a protest.
