The video, which was reportedly shot in 2013 but only released to the public two days ago, orangutan trying to defend its tree by desperately grabbing at a bulldozer.
The bulldozer was pulling down trees in the orangutan’s natural habitat in Indonesia and the footage was posted by y International Animal Rescue, an animal welfare organisation, on World Environment Day, in a plea to protect the habitat of orangutans.
A spokesperson for the International Animal Rescue organisation said, “Our team responds regularly to situations like these where an orangutan is stranded in the debris of the forest.”
“This scene is different only in that the bulldozer is still present and the clearance operation is still happening.”
“Deforestation has caused the orangutan population to plummet; habitats are destroyed and orangutans are left to starve and die,” the NGO writes on the page.
Despite this humans will still continue to smother forests to meet their petty needs at the cost of animals like these losing their habitats.
