Despite Its Rs 1 Lakh Price, Apple Shipped 2.9 Crore iPhone X Units In Last 3 Months Of 2017

Amidst reports of Apple considering to shutdown production of iPhone X and sluggish sales of the 10th anniversary iPhone, new data reveals something quite opposite.

iPhone X – selling like hotcakes?

Believe it or not but Apple has managed to ship an estimated 29 million or 2.9 crore units of iPhone X worldwide — just in the last three months of 2017. Not kidding.

This new iPhone X shipment report comes from Canalys, a Singapore-based firm that specializes in technology market research. In fact, according to the shipment tracker, the iPhone X was the “world’s best-shipping smartphone model over the holidays.”

Despite the seemingly impressive shipment number, the report suggests that the iPhone X isn’t the fastest ever shipped iPhone, and the fact that Apple decided to offer the device along with the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus seems to have played a part in turning people who would’ve otherwise bought the flagship iPhone X model towards either the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus instead.

Not only that, the iPhone X shipments were also below industry expectations. According to a Canalys analyst, “Apple struggled with supply issues in early November, but achieved a massive uplift in production in late November and throughout December.”

Of the 29 million iPhone X devices shipped in the past three months, Canalys estimates that seven million were shipped to China alone. Given Apple’s increased focus on the Chinese market over the past couple of years, this comes as no surprise.

Yet again, despite crossing the Rs 1 lakh price point on the iPhone X, Apple continues to defy expectations.
