'A Sci-Fi Doll That Chills And Kills': 'M3GAN' Is Indeed One Of The Best Horror Films Ever Made

M3GAN, short for “Model 3 Generative Android,” is a mechanical Chucky who can sing Sia’s “Titanium” and kill people with ninja techniques.

Gerard Johnstone directed this sci-fi chiller, co-written by horror experts Akela Cooper and James Wan.

M3gan, voiced by Jenna Davis, is a futuristic toy developed as a personal passion project by engineer Gemma (Allison Williams), much to the annoyance of her very stressed boss David, played by Ronny Chieng.

Allison Williams stars in the film as the equivalent of a well-intentioned mad scientist whose best-laid efforts go disastrously wrong.

M3gan must “pair” with a young female owner to reach her full potential.

She has to understand the patterns of human conversation, the nuances of human behavior, and the emotional requirements of a human to create a strong bond with her human owner.

After losing her parents in a car accident, Gemma takes in her niece Cady (Violet McGraw), who is nine years old.

Considering how heartbroken she must be by the loss of her parents and how difficult it must be for her to make new friends in a new place, M3GAN becomes an ideal choice for Gemma to introduce her to Cady’s life.

The happy times don’t last forever, though, for M3GAN gets increasingly violent in her attempts to save Cady from harm, which is wickedly comical and disturbing.

These culminating sequences are masterfully established by director Gerard Johnstone, who cleverly waits to unveil the inevitable bloodshed and coincidences until the audience is fully invested.

Because Cady acts like a child when she is away from M3GAN, the movie is also an intelligent way to think about the risks of using technology as the ultimate caregiver

Feeling spooked by the killer robot? It’s not all in your head; the actors behind M3GAN only used a few special effects.

Amie Donald, a 12-year-old actor, performs M3GAN’s wacky dancing steps, and Jenna Davis, an 18-year-old actress, performs the doll’s eerie voice. Visual effects, puppetry, and animatronics all contribute to making the M3GAN on-screen come to life.

The internet is amused by ‘M3GAN’.

The doll goes on a killing spree, but the way the movie unfolds is fascinating and full of moments of ridiculous laughs. Here’s the verdict:

The movie was made by the horror factory Blumhouse and “The Conjuring” director James Wan, who also shares story credit with screenwriter Akela Cooper.
