An actress who became an overnight sensation with Aamir Khan’s Dangal went on to choose spirituality within a few years of her debut. Zaira who also featured in Secret Superstar and The Sky is Pink announced her retirement via an Instagram post.

Sana Khan

Sana was a celebrated name in the Indian TV industry. She acted in over 14 films across 5 languages and appeared in over 50 ad films before bidding adieu to the glamour world. The Bigg Boss star married right after.

Sofia Hayat

Bigg Boss 7 fame actress and singer Sofia Hayat worked on several television and film projects. It was in 2016 that Hayat announced embracing spirituality and becoming a nun. Thereafter, she used Gaia Sofia Mother as her name.

Anu Aggarwal

An actress who stormed through the headlines with her debut in blockbuster Aashiqui chose to find a new way of her life within just a few years. The Cloud Door star became a Karmayogi in 1999.

Barkha Madan

Barkha saw a blockbuster debut alongside Akshay Kumar and Rekha in 1996’s Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi. The former actress who led popular TV shows like Saat Phere and Nyaay became a Buddhist nun in 2012 and is now known as Gyalten Samten.

Mamta Kulkarni

Mamta who gave superhit films like Aashiq Awara, Waqt Hamara Hai, Krantiveer, and Karan Arjun also chose spirituality in 2003 to serve her soul and society. A full stop to her glorious career left the industry shocked.

Nupur Alankar

Nupur who appeared in almost 157 TV serials throughout her 27 years of acting career left for the Himalayas to take Sanyas in 2022. The Saawriyan actress said her husband played an important role in freeing her from the ‘moh’ of marriage.

Anagha Bhosale

Anagha who played the popular character of Nandini Iyer from Anupamaa decided to skip showbiz and move back to Pune. At the mere age of 23, Bhosale devoted her life to Lord Krishna.

Suchitra Sen

Late Bengali actress Suchitra Sen skipped showbiz after having an active career of almost 25 years. Sen was the first Indian actress to receive an award at an international film festival and went on to devote her life to the Ramakrishna Mission before passing away in 2013.
