Deepinder Goyal’s Love Story With Wife Kanchan Joshi

“I chased her for six months,” Deepinder had once revealed in an interview with Forbes India as he talked about his wife Kanchan Joshi. How did Goyal meet the love of his life? He met her at IIT Delhi. They were both in the same department – mathematics and computing. She was doing her MSc in Maths and they would often meet in the labs. How did he pursue her? Goyal said that he would hang out with her hoping that he would grow on her.

The two got married in 2007. The next year in 2008, Goyal and Pankaj Chadda founded Zomato, which was known then called FoodieBay.

“We understand each other very well. We haven’t fought in years”, he added. Kanchan Joshi is now working as an assistant professor at Delhi University. In 2013, their daughter Siara was born. 

For the unversed, Deepinder Goyal was born on January 26, 1983, in Punjab’s Muktsar region. As per reports, both his parents were teachers by profession. His father used to teach Botany and his mother was an English teacher. He completed his schooling at DAV College, Chandigarh, and did his graduation from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, where he met the love of his life. After his graduation, Deepinder Goyal joined Bain and Company in Gurgaon where he worked for three years. While he was working there, he and his colleague Pankaj Chaddah got the idea for Zomato and both of them quit their jobs to start their own company. And rest, as they say, is history.
