’60-70 Firms In My Portfolio Shut Down With No Returns’: Shark Tank India's Anupam Mittal

The founder and CEO of People Group, Anupam Mittal, said that sixty to seventy companies in his portfolio have gone out of business without making any money. “My investments in these companies have gone into total loss,” he said on the fourteenth episode of Shark Tank India 2.

He stated that it is difficult for every investment to be successful. He added, “It’s not feasible to expect profits from every firm where you invest your money,”

He stated that the 15–20 companies he has invested in have helped him recoup his losses (from investing in failing businesses) and rewarded him with far higher profits.

“This is known as the portfolio method to investment, and you cannot get obsessed with particular losses.”

He says he is more intelligent about investments, letting him sleep well at night.

Shaadi.com’s founder and prominent angel investor, Mittal, is a household name in the Indian community. Among the numerous successful startups and “unicorns” he has backed are Ola Cabs, BigBasket, and drone startup Druva.

About 240 companies have benefited from Anupam’s investment.

Besides Aman, he said, all the other “Sharks” run companies that incur losses.
