A cop, a biker, a boxer, and a supermodel And now, she is an actor.
Sikkim’s Eksha Kerung is exceptionally talented and a woman who enjoys wearing many hats! Her primary job in Sikkim is that of a police officer. She has now added one more achievement to her list of accomplishments.
She will shortly make her Bollywood debut with Lakadbaggha, directed by Victor Mukherjee.
In an interview with Free Press journal, Eksha opened up on how she aces work-life balance and the two most demanding occupations in the world.
“It all started when I went to this national reality show based on modeling while I was in the defense forces only. It was difficult for me to choose between the two. I was in two minds about whether I’d make it through it and whether my friends and family would support me. I always dreamed of getting into a reality series, and I had followed the show since my school days. There are always ifs and buts in life as both my professions are poles apart.”
Talking about her journey that began on a popular MTV reality show, she said,
“I was on duty with friends and told them I wanted to try in a reality series. I gave an audition in the uniform while the auditions were going on. I got an immediate response, and it is unbelievable till now, I guess. I told my senior officials that I got selected, but they didn’t know what I was doing. However, my parents were supportive.”
In recent years, we have witnessed artists from North East India starring in major roles in mainstream Indian cinema.
Chum Darang (Badhaai Do) and Andrea Kevichusa (Anek) have paved the way for more artists to dream big in Bollywood.
Talking about how things are changing for artists from North-East who aspire to make a career in Bollywood, Eksha said,

“North East is not only good in sports but there are also many talented people from the region. We just do now how to start; we fly to Mumbai since it’s the city of films but what’s next? Thankfully, I got an opportunity to do a reality show where I learned many things. Mumbai is a huge city, and my parents were scared. But a lot of things are changing these days. I didn’t even know I could earn well in the film industry, but people from there have to make strong decisions.”
Eksha says she has given her best in the movie.
“I am more into modeling. I do a lot of print shoots and love them. Lakadhbaggha is my Bollywood debut, and I gave my best. I haven’t seen the film, but I am excited about it.”
