In the 64-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Taylor Swift has had one of the most historical weeks, according to publication. Swift made history by being the first artist in the 64-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 to occupy every position in the 10 for a single week with the release of her most recent studio album Midnights on October 21. She also beats Madonna regarding the number of women’s top 10 hits (40).
Rapper Drake, who held nine top ten spots on the Hot 100 for a week in September 2021, has been overtaken by Taylor. Check out this Instagram post where she announced the news of her number-one album Midnights.
Sharing the news with all her fans, Taylor wrote:
“Surprise! I think of Midnights as a complete concept album, with those 13 songs forming a full picture of the intensities of that mystifying, mad hour. However! There were other songs we wrote on our journey to find that magic 13. I’m calling them 3 am tracks. Lately, I’ve loved sharing more of our creative process with you, as we do with From The Vault tracks. So it’s 3 am, and I’m giving them to you now.”
Taylor’s song “Anti-Hero” from the same album arrived at No. 1, marking the eighth time she has occupied the top spot in her career.
It’s noteworthy that Swift’s latest album Midnights includes the top ten tracks on the Hot 100. The biggest week for a music release in the past seven years has just transpired.
According to Billboard, Taylor also beat The Beatles and rapper Drake regarding the number of songs that hit the “top of the Hot 100 in a single week.”
With 40 hits, the Love Story singer has overtaken legendary artist Madonna’s 38 top 10 female Billboard chart placings.
She comes in second only to Drake among all acts (59 top 10s). Midnights also beats Drake’s Certified Lover Boy’s nine Hot 100 top 10s to become the first album to achieve “10 top 10s in 2021.”
