When India and South Africa faced off in Nairobi for an ODI in 1999, the last person anybody expected to make an impact was Sunil Joshi.

With Anil Kumble not playing, the spin department fell to him and he produced a magical spell which left the South Africans reeling.
Ten overs, six maidens, 6 runs and 5 wickets. Yes, this is how his figures read when the damage was done.
South Africa were bowled out for 117 and India chased down the target with 8 wickets to spare.
From 83/4 India bundled them out with 6 wickets falling for 34 runs and Joshi was the main destroyer. It was a spell few of us have forgotten. The man himself may have gone into oblivion after that. His only other highlight would be the 92 in Bangladesh’s inaugural Test which rescued us from 236/6 to 429. But that day he was unplayable and it’s not a match the South Africans like to be reminded of.
