Apple’s senior vice president of Services, Eddy Cue who has been working at the tech giant since the year 1989–and played a key role in creating the Apple online store in 1998, the iTunes Store in 2003, and the App Store in 2008–recently shared the success mantra that helps the world’s most valuable company.
Cue, who directly reports to CEO Tim Cook, attributes a lot of Apple’s success to the habit of saying “no” more often than “yes.”

“We say ‘no’ to almost everything,” Cue said in a conversation with CNBC on Tuesday in California. “When you get as large as we are, it’s easy to think you can do anything or everything, and it’s just not true.” According to Cue, an idea is only taken forward at Apple if it’s something the company knows it can execute well and if it’s something consumers really care about.
Cue joined Apple in 1989. Since then, he’s been a key figure in numerous Apple innovations, including the launch of the iTunes Store and the company’s foray into sports streaming.

He played key roles in creating the Apple online store in 1998, the iTunes Store in 2003, and the App Store in 2008. He also played a key role in developing Apple’s award-winning iLife suite of applications. In his early years at Apple, he was a successful manager of software engineering and customer support teams.
Cue earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Economics from Duke University. He serves on the Board of Trustees of both the Paley Center for Media and Duke University.
He reportedly oversees the full range of Apple’s services, including Apple Music, Apple News, Apple Podcasts, the Apple TV app, and Apple TV+, as well as Apple Pay, Apple Card, Maps, Search Ads, Apple’s iCloud services, and Apple’s productivity and creativity apps.
