Torando was approximately 500 feet wide

NWS estimates the tornado had sustained winds between 60 and 70 mph and was approximately 500 feet wide when it ripped through Micco, Florida, which has a population of more than 8,000 and is about 50 miles southeast of Orlando.

“All I heard was metal just tearing and ripping,” one resident told FOX 35, recalling the chaos. “Been through countless hurricanes … never, ever in my life, seen anything that quick, that fast, with the much destruction.”

“This is my actual first tornado I’ve ever been in, and it was just scary. Really, it was. I’m not going to lie to you; it was scary,” said Arthur Corbitt, whose home was damaged. “It was scary going out and walking through and seeing stuff we worked hard to buy and replace – gone.”

‘Older people have no income or help to replace roofs’

Corbitt’s patio roof ended up in his backyard with sheets of metal lining the grass.” he added, “It just wiped out everything all the way around us.”

While these neighbours said the confirmed EF-0 tornado didn’t hurt them physically, it still took a toll.

“I feel sorry for some of the older people who have no income or nothing to help them replace roofs and whatever because some of these people, their homes are probably going to be damaged,” Corbitt added.
