Topping the list of the world’s 100 most powerful women this year is 59-year-old American businesswoman Karen Lynch. She is the CEO of American healthcare and insurance giant CVS Health, and she has taken the top spot on the list for the third consecutive year.   

CVS, which stands at 11th rank on the Fortune Global 500 list this year, is the largest company in the world, led by a female CEO. It currently has a market cap of nearly $90 billion. Karen Lynch was reportedly paid $21.3 million in total compensation for last year (2022).

Karen has over three decades of experience in the health care industry. Prior to becoming president and chief executive officer in February 2021, Karen was executive vice president of CVS Health and president of Aetna, where she was responsible for delivering consumer-centric, holistic health care to the millions of people Aetna serves.

Before joining CVS Health, Karen held executive positions at Cigna and Magellan Health®, where she served as president. Karen began her career with Ernst & Young as a certified public accountant.

Karen was selected for the 2023 TIME100 annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. She was named the top-ranking leader in 2021 and 2022 on the Fortune list of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Business.” In 2022, Fortune named Karen the Most Inspirational CEO. She was also included on the Bloomberg 50 list of people who have changed global business.

A graduate of Boston College and Boston University Questrom School of Business, Karen was awarded an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science from the University of Hartford in 2022 and an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Becker College in 2015.

As per a Fortune report, in August 2022, Isha was named the head of Reliance Retail Ventures, a fast-growing division that includes e-commerce platforms such as JioMart.com and earned $28 billion in revenue in the latest fiscal year.
