True it’s one of the most revered sporting events in the world; there's such a buzz surrounding the on-going FIFA 2014 World Cup.

But without us realising it, the World Cup has become a much sought-after platform for luxury advertising and associations.

We eyeball the elitist sponsors and their special roll-outs for this million dollar affair.

Synonymous with uber-luxury, the football federation body actually sourced French fashion house Louis Vuitton to design a special case to carry the World Cup trophy.

And while you’re busy debating the need for a monogrammed trunk to encase the already 18k gilded trophy, LV has finished serving up the exclusive handmade masterpiece, complete with the brand’s signature brass lock, corners, and signage.

Well gone are the days when referee boards at football matches were a utilitarian object designed to keep score and state game updates.

With Hublot at the helm, this technical assist gets a major upgrade in appearance and functionality to be more of an icon, and less of an accessory.

The new referee board spotted at the matches is brand stamped and signals additional time periods and player substitutions, looking more like a super-sized watch with an ergonomic grip.

Polished to perfection and designed to be lightweight, this is only the first of a triple whammy that Hublot brings to the game this year.

Now this inclusion perhaps makes more sense given that Hublot is the official timekeeper of the sporting event. Keep a watch for the brand’s 45mm Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono which clocks every aspect of the game in mind.

It starts off by keeping the time in a football match through hour and minute hands that travel from left to right in a circular arch of 45 minutes (or one half of a football match), right before they zip back to the 0 mark again.

The ticker clocks the extra time or penalty shootouts, and can even track the match stage.

Available in 18k King Gold (limited to 200 numbered pieces) or Black Ceramic casebacks (limited to 200 numbered pieces)—this HUB1260 UNICO self-winding movement is quite a glamorous addition to the FIFA 2014 sponsor line-up.

As reported by Times of India, travelers are spending big on luxury packages from $12,000 per person to some footballers scouting for stay options upwards of $50,000 for their entourage.

We’ve also spotted some VIP Travel Experience which provides custom packages serving up first class accommodations, personalised itineraries, a hands-on concierge, airport transfers and the likes.

Needless to say though, the Hublot Palace at Copacabana Beach in Rio is the most coveted venue of the lot, with 130-keys, two terraces with big screens and a very slick revamped lobby. The boutique hotel will serve up delicacies courtesy of two French chefs, alongside exotic cheese by Mr Biver and vintage wine from Vaud.

Sealing the deal on the occasion, the federation brought on luxury brand Taittinger as the official champagne sponsor for the World Cup to do the rounds at the VIP and VVIP lounges during the matches.

Now while Taittinger is pretty luxe all on its own, the bubbly label pushed the couplet by further releasing a limited edition Brut Reserve cuvee in a beautifully packaged gift box, complete with 3D labeling.

With 40% Chardonnay and 60% of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, this collectible from Taittinger will be is being presented in Bottle, Magnum and Jeroboam renditions to the public.
