Apple, Google, And Facebook Will Still Be Around In 2075, Says Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak

When Steve Wozniak co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs way back in 1976, the two had faith they were building a legacy that would last through decades. Wozniak still believes that; in fact, he believes that Apple, Google and Facebook will still be around more tin 2075, and will be bigger than ever.

“Apple will be around a long time, like IBM (which was founded in 1911),” he was quoted as saying by USA Today on Sunday, at the Silicon Valley Comic Con (SVCC). “Look at Apple’s cash, it can invest in anything. It would be ridiculous to not expect them to be around. The same goes for Google and Facebook.”

Three day convention, the theme of which this year was “The Future of Humanity: Where Will We Be in 2075?” explores the intersection of pop culture and technology, with guests like Star Trek actor William Shatner, and even former astronaut Buzz Aldrin.

Wozniak also made some other predictions, including the spread of AI-based technology, and how humans would be living over 50 years from now.

Wozniak believes that AI will become commonplace in all cities, with people largely interacting with smart surfaces to shop, consume entertainment, and even communicate with one another. Plugging AI systems into medicine will enable devices that can diagnose patients without a doctor, and even carry out treatments. “The question will be ethical, on whether we can eliminate the need for physicians,” he says.

He also believes deserts will become prime locations for new cities, designed and built from scratch. The vast expanses of space will solve the housing problem, while specially built domes and protective suits will make long-term habitation easier.

Wozniak is also convinced that humans will also eventually spill over to Martian colonies, with him envisioning it as a heavy industry hub to support the residential-focused planet Earth.
