iPhone 7 Plus Is Making Hissing Noises And Some Of The Owners Are Quite Perplexed!

Reports are pouring in about the brand new iPhone 7 hissing back at its owners.

Stephen Hackett at 512 Pixels was the first to notice the hiss, the source of which was located at the back of his iPhone 7 Plus, which sounded like this:

After Hackett, TechCrunch’s Darrell Etherington also confirmed the news. So what’s happening here?

Two theories have been suggested to help owners make some sense of this problem.

According to Jon Fingas at Engadget, “some suspect coil whine or similar electromagnetic effects.” However, it’s not a universal problem, as he has already “tested an iPhone 7 using 3DMark ‘Ice Storm Extreme’, a performance benchmark that puts the processor under serious strain, and heard no hissing at all.”

The second theory comes from Marco Arment who is an iOS developer. He thinks “it’s the phone equivalent of hearing the fans spin up loudly whenever your Mac’s CPU gets used to its actual potential.”

Anyone who’s experiencing the same can ask for a replacement, which may sadly take up to 5-7 days.
