WhatsApp is a one of the most loved free messaging app which helps to share not just messages, but pictures, songs, audio notes, doc files and more. WhatsApp was introduced in the year 2011. It uses internet connection (2G/3G/4G or wifi) to access and share messages.
2017 has begun as a new era for WhatsApp for it has stopped working on older smartphones, they include lower versions of iOS6, Android 2.2 Froyo and Windows 7. Now that WhatsApp is a Facebook-owned company, they issued a statement that read people who want to be connected with their friends through the app would have to upgrade their smartphone OS, or the handset altogether.
People using Nokia with S40 and Symbian 60, and those of who are using Blackberry 10 have got an extension till June 30th, 2017.
The changes that WhatsApp is going through are arguably large to allow the app deeply into privacy and encryption. Such services stop messages from being read and have led to WhatsApp facing the wrath of the Government, who obviously feel that the ‘chats’ should be made public for security purposes.
With the rapid changes that are taking place for the big revamp that WhatsApp is going through, it is rumoured that people will be able to edit or delete the messages entirely that has been sent.
The company had announced beforehand that the app will stop working for many android users.
