Australian Boss Greenlights ‘Bare Minimum Mondays’ For Staff

Although the baby boomer generation is calling this new work trend “lazy” and “unnecessary,” the employees are surely appreciating the much-needed shift. Australian marketing boss Caitlyn Winter is leaning into the new trend with full force as she introduces “bare minimum Mondays” to her staff.
If you are unfamiliar with taking the easy way out, then let me explain what this new work trend is all about. The movement simply promotes a “gentle start” to the week. This could mean working from home on Mondays or only working a half day. It can be whatever an employee wants it to be, it is just designed in a way that is less stressful for the employee to come into work on a Monday.
A lot of people struggle to even fall asleep on Sunday because they are worried about going to work the next day and starting the grind all over again. This new way of working is a trick to avoid this very feeling.
According To Caitlyn, This New Trend Will Boost Productivity

Caitlyn, the Adelaide-based marketing manager, opened up about her take on the trend in a conversation with news.com.au. She said that for her it was a way for staff to take their day at their own pace and to treat themselves with “space and kindness.”
She added, “A lot of people think it means I sit in my PJs all day in front of the TV and do no work. But in reality, it is simply a day where we work from home, don’t schedule in any meetings and generally just treat ourselves with a little more space and kindness to set up for a productive week ahead.”
“For us, it means not putting pressure on ourselves to get those big projects done,” she explained.
She went on, “Other things that we might get to do on these days are loads of washing we didn’t get to on the weekend, grocery shopping, planning dinners for the week or walking your dog. For one member of my team, it means being able to drop off and pick up her kids from school which she is unable to do during the week.”
