The railway catastrophe was depicted in sand art by the artist. He prayed for the survivors’ quick recovery in his artwork. The Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, and a cargo train collided on Friday at around 7 PM close to the Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore. According to the most recent reports, around 280 people have died and close to 900 have reportedly been injured.

ANI posted a video of Sudarsan’s artwork on Twitter. However, it was not received well online by users. Many people believed that it was completely ‘uncalled for’ and that the artist should have taken responsibility for it instead of being criticised for it.

“Someone knock some sense into this guy. Social media clout can wait,” wrote a man.

“My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased passenger of this tragic accident and also, let’s pray to God for the speedy recovery of injured passengers,” a man tweeted.

A lady wrote, “Jai Jagganath 🙏 🌸 praying for speedy recovery of the survivors. May bhagwan give the impacted families the strength to bear this loss.”

“Heart wrenching 😥😥😥Prayers for departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured 🙏🙏🙏,” tweeted another man.

What happened in Odisha?

Three trains collided on June 2, 2023, not far from Balasore, in the eastern Indian state of Odisha. After first colliding with a goods train close to the Bahanaga Bazar train station, the 12841 Coromandel Express and the 12864 SMVT Bengaluru-Howrah SF Express collided with one other.

Over 1,175 other individuals were hurt in the collision, which resulted in at least 288 fatalities. It is India’s biggest rail crash since the 1999 Gaisal train disaster and the deadliest rail accident since 2004.

The Railways ministry requested a central bureau of inquiry investigation into the event on Sunday. The Railways Board has recommended that the probe be turned over to the CBI, the Railways Minister said, “keeping in mind all that happened and the information that the administration has.”
