The Heat Is So Bad In The Uk That It's Causing Rock Cliffs To Break And Fall Off!

The UK has been hit by the heatwave and it has already caused enough damage. But now major cliff collapse has taken place along the Jurassic Coast which has been scorched and cracked by the country’s hot weather.

Some of these dramatic landslides were taken on video by onlookers who were left shocked by this advancement. Onlookers said that huge slabs of rock continued to fall hours after the initial landslide had begun.

The cliffs collapsed at Sidmouth and East Beach. According to reports, the one in East Beach is the second major landslide along the Jurassic coast in two weeks. However, there have been no reports of any casualties.

According to the Daily Mail, Lee and Joanna Holt were walking past the cliff when they saw it collapsing. Mr Holt said: “My wife and I are early birds, we like to explore places before the town gets busy. We started to walk along the promenade when I spotted a small dust cloud on the beach., then suddenly the cliff gave way. We didn’t hear anything but the sight was immense. Currently, parts of the cliff are still giving way.”

Locals were warned to stay away from the area

After the devastating landslides, locals and tourists were warned by the local authorities to stay away from the area. The authorities said, “Please do not walk on East Beach, there have been multiple cliffs falls today – these can happen at any time, on any day and without any warning. The best way to stay safe is to keep away. Thank you.”

East Devon police were also on the scene, telling people on Twitter: “Another large cliff falls this morning. Reminder to beach users not to walk on the beach East of #Sidmouth due to unstable cliffs which could fall at any time.”

These landslides have been attributed to the record-breaking high temperatures in the United Kingdom this year. “Heat causes rocks to expand and, particularly during temperature fluctuations, any pre-existing cracks can widen, and new cracks can also form. This makes cliffs potentially more unstable and rockfalls more likely to happen,” the Dorset Council explained.

This is not the only damage the high temperatures have caused in the UK. Recently, news about roads turning into black goo was doing the rounds. The heat was so much that the roads started melting in one area. Not just that, buildings in the country also started catching fire due to the heat.
