Delhi Resident Creates Guinness World Record, Visits All Metro Stations In 15 Hours And 22 Minutes

For some taking the metro every day is a mere task to get to places, but a Delhi-based man turned it into a golden opportunity and created a Guinness World Record. What did he do?

After visiting 286 metro stations on the Delhi Metro in 15 hours, 22 minutes, and 49 seconds, a guy set a Guinness World Record in his name.

Shashank Manu, a freelance researcher based in Delhi, set the record. Here’s his story.

Shashank enjoys riding the Delhi Metro and has set a goal of visiting all 286 metro stations by April 2021. Shashank began his adventure on the blue line at 5 a.m. to set the Guinness World Record. He was able to go across 286 metro stations until 8:30 p.m. at the Brigadier Hoshiar Singh station on the Delhi Metro’s green line.

However, because of a misunderstanding, he was unable to obtain recognition from the Guinness World Records. Due to the misunderstanding, the award was handed to someone else, Prafull Singh.

Shashank completed his record-breaking voyage by using a one-day tourist card

In August 2021, he completed the entire metro route in 16 hours and 2 minutes. Sashank did the trek in 15 hours, 22 minutes, and 49 seconds the same year. Shashank completed his record-breaking voyage by using a one-day tourist card, which allowed him to take unlimited one-day rides on that day.

Because of the mistake, Manu was able to obtain the Guinness World Record two years after establishing it in April 2023. During the COVID pandemic, Manu had the notion to cover all of India’s metro stations, he told The Indian Express.

He chose to make the record when metro services were restored following the lockdown.
Manu made a point of taking shots at each metro station to document his experience. Furthermore, he had the photos validated by the other passengers by having them sign a receipt as “independent witnesses.”

He also made an uncut video of the entire attempt to verify his record. He made certain that his video was recorded continuously throughout his travel. This enabled him to keep track of the opening and closing times of the railway coach’s doors at each station.
