Firefighters rescue kid whose head got stuck in toilet seat
37-year-old mother named Mum Kay Stewart spent the entire evening trying to toilet train her daughter Harper. After the said training, Kay heard her daughter’s cries of “Mammy, I’m stuck” coming from their bathroom in Wallsend, North Tyneside.

When Kay reached her two-year-old daughter, she saw her little one with the toilet seat stuck around her neck after trying to wear it. Kay’s 16-year-old daughter Shannon called Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) for help. This is when her mother tried everything to free the toddler from the toilet seat.
Ms. Stewart said, “I was so relieved when the firefighters turned up, I’d been trying everything to get it off. They turned up blue lights and everything and the kids loved it, they were so calming and kept the other kids busy whilst helping Harper.”

The fire crew arrived in minutes
The fire crew started from Wallsend Community Fire Station and arrived in minutes. She used small tools to remove the potty from the toddler’s head. The mother was extremely happy to see how the firefighters were able to free Harper and added she was “grateful” for their help.
She said: “Harper gave the firefighter a big hug once he was done. They even put their lights on and gave them a big wave before heading off. I was so grateful for their help that evening.”
The station manager with the firefighter crew said he was glad that the crew was easily able to get the toilet seat out of the head. He also wished Harper all the best for her future potty training.

The man also mentioned that the toddler had to be very still, which you can’t expect from a kid. However, they thought the kid was very brave, which made the work convenient for the firefighters.
He thanked the crew for their hard work and professionalism.
