In Pics: How Human Disturbance And Climate Change Are Driving Polar Bears To Cannibalism

The increasing temperature, as well as human involvement in the Arctic, have resulted in the ice plains melting. This has completely destroyed the habitats in which a polar bear would normally hunt for food, turning them cannibalistic. Here are some images that prove how human disturbance and climate change have completely destroyed their habitat and forced them into cannibalism.

Shrinking sea ice is creating an ecological trap for polar bears.

Melting ice due to rising temperature and industrial movement into the area are forcing polar bears out of their traditional hunting grounds or on to the shore areas where food is scarce.

The Arctic is heating up faster than anywhere else because of climate change.

Polar bears mostly use sea ice to hunt seals swimming in the waters.

Lack of ice means they are being forced onto the shore where they cannot hunt as usual and it is harder to find the nutrients needed to survive.

Russian researchers have recorded growing numbers of polar bears moving away from their traditional hunting grounds as the ice melts due to global warming.

Here, polar bears can be seen feeding at a garbage dump near the village of Belushya Guba, in Novaya Zemlya, Russia.
