Venture County Sheriff’s officials confirmed that it was Glee actor Naya Rivera’s body which was found floating in the northeast corner of Lake Piru by the search crew.
The 33-year-old actor’s body was found after her disappearance five days ago on Lake Piru where her son was found on July 8, asleep and alone on a rented boat.
Authorities believed that Rivera had drowned and, hence, started looking for her body rather than finding her alive. Her body is has now been sent for an autopsy.

Rivera’s death by drowning at Lake Piru has drawn comments from users online who claim the lake has always been dangerous. They also spoke about how despite several drownings that have taken place there in the past, no warning signs have been put up at the lake.

A thread on Twitter has gone viral in which it is being discussed how the lake has whirlpools and the user wrote that she lost a young family member in the lake, years ago.
Not that just, there is also an online petition on Change.org to have Lake Piru put up warning signs.
‘Piru’ translates to devil in Finnish and Spanish.
According to an LA Times report, there have been a high number of cases of drowning in the lake.
Authorities also revealed that their surveillance footage which shows Rivera and her son, Josey Hollis Dorsey leaving on the rented boat.
When the boat did not return, its vendor discovered the vessel drifting in the northern end of the lake on Wednesday with Rivera’s son asleep on board. According to the boy’s statement, he and Rivera were swimming and while he got back on the boat, his mother did not. The boy was wearing a life vest and another one was found in the boat accompanied with Rivera’s purse and identification.
