Amid the ongoing pandemic, facemasks are an absolute necessity
while stepping out. But some people just don’t seem to get the point despite repeated warnings.
In one such incident, a Meerut youth and his friend were caught loitering the streets without a facemask. After being confronted by a cop, one guy decided to use a handkerchief, while the other decided to stick a Rs 10 note on his face.

The guy named Amir justified using the Rs 10-note as a mask by saying, “A mask costs Rs 40 and I had only Rs 10. So, I used it as a mask.
We live in the Parikshitgarh area of the district and had come to the city to
collect payment from our employer.”
Amir and his friend Mehboob was moving around ‘aimlessly’ when
they saw the cops approaching,
Mehboob quickly covered his face with a
handkerchief, but Amir pasted a Rs 10
note on his mouth.

“I was on lockdown duty on Sunday when a bike carrying
two youths crossed by. The one driving the motorcycle was wearing a
handkerchief and the pillion rider quickly pasted a ten-rupee note on his face.
When questioned the pillion rider, Amit, admitted that he did not have a mask.
We gave him two masks and warned him not to move around without wearing
one.” Circle officer, Civil Lines, Sanjeev Deshwal, told IANS.
Following the incident, an FIR was registered against them under IPC section
188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and relevant
sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act. Police sources said the two – Amir and
Mehboob – worked as contractual workers.
