Mom gets mistaken for her daughter’s friend

Carly Johnson, 40, is the delighted mother of Kia Douglas, 17, yet despite their 23-year age difference, people frequently mistake the couple for friends.
Fortunately, “young at heart” Carly doesn’t mind the confusion, which the mother-daughter team enjoys laughing about.
According to the mother, who lives in Stockport, Greater Manchester, it occasionally causes unpleasant hiccups.
“We get mistaken for sisters all the time,” she explained. It occurs everywhere, and the mother says it’s praise for her. Duh!
When the mother-daughter duo went out for Kia’s (17th) birthday, Carly asked a waiter if he could take a picture of her with her daughter when she returned from the loo, and he was left perplexed after he saw the daughter as he mistook them for two friends out to supper.

Someone told Kia that the supper was ready while she was on vacation. She introduced herself as her mother and invited the workers out to show them, and they were stunned.
The duo takes everything in stride
Fortunately, the couple takes everything in stride. Kia isn’t bothered by it. She is not ashamed. Carly explained that they are really close, and they even share clothes.
Her “good genes” are to blame for her young appearance. The mother is known as Benjamin Button, and she ages backwards. She claims to have always appeared young for her age. When she was 21, she looked like she was 16, the mother of one explained.
Her secret? It is a combination of good genes, she says. Carly’s mother is 68 years old and looks great, and her grandmother was in her 90s and fit as a fiddle, she adds.
Staff at the hospital would read her age and think they’d gotten it incorrectly. She also usually dates younger men. She says she is not a cradle snatcher, but she seems to attract them since she also seems young. The boys appear to have a crush on an older woman.

“Even though I’m 40, I’m still a young man at heart, so I believe older men have a different mindset than me. In my thoughts, I’m still 25,” she was reported as saying.
Sometimes when she posts on her story, guys ask who her friend is because she’s so hot, and she proudly tells them she’s literally her daughter, she continued. That’s a little strange for everyone to hear, but good strange.
More recently, the pair stunned social media followers when Carly’s post wishing Kia a happy birthday went viral last week. Carly’s post, which included a photo of her and Kia, earned over 1,600 likes and two million views.
