'Whites Only' Job Advertisement Goes Viral, Sparking Outrage And Calls For Action

After purportedly posting a job advertisement asking only for “white” candidates to apply, an Australian company found itself in hot water. Here’s what happened.

Company Advertises Hiring Only White People

“Only born US Citizens (White) who are local within 60 miles from Dallas, TX [Don’t share with candidates]”, the job vacancy reads.

According to The Independent, the position for a business analyst in its salesforce and insurance claims team in Dallas, Texas, was reportedly posted this week by Virginia-based Arthur Grand Technologies.

After one of the Twitter users reported the company for discriminatory practises, the news of the job application went viral on Reddit and Twitter.

“Hi @WarrenBuffett! Looks like one of Berkshire Hathaway’s vendors… Arthur Grand Technologies Inc… has some problematic hiring processes. Discrimination on race and national origin reduce a company’s competitiveness, besides being a bad look,” T.K. Finch tweeted.

The Company Received A Lot Of Criticism

The company was criticised by additional users for discriminating against applicants based on their race or ethnicity. One Twitter user brought up the fact that Arthur Grand works as a contractor for the federal, state, and local governments.

A lady added, “And Arthur Grand is a government contractor — federal, state, and local. Doesn’t that add a whole extra layer of obligations not to discriminate?”

Another informed, “It’s not Arthur Grand, these are directives from Berkshire as I was up for this role with 25 years experience @WarrenBuffett I guess until they saw my brown face…”

Another added, “Bravo to the “junior” staff member being blamed for this. They obviously blew the whistle on this company by posting the job req as-written.”

A man, however, thought, “I doubt the recruiter came up with this on their own. This is likely a directive from the client HTC Global/Berkshire Hathaway. My instinct tells me this was a copy paste job and the recruiter left the bracketed notes in the expose the client.”

A lady also pointed out, “To make matters worse, Arthur Grand Technologies posted nonsense on their LinkedIn— with comments disabled of course—claiming they are minority-owned company. Mmhm. Show me yours AND Berkshire Hathaway’s executive board.”
