Sewage Stream Becomes Treasure Trove As Locals Risk Health For Cash Grab In Bihar

A recent video going around has shocked many as it shows residents of Sasaram City in Bihar collecting money from a sewage drain. The clip was shot in the Rohtas district of Bihar where people were seen jumping into the dirty drain water to get their hands on cash they found there.

The video is making rounds on the Internet with people reposting the video all over social media. The clip shows a chaotic situation where desperate adults and children plunge into dirty drain water to grab soggy bundles of money that were likely dumped in the drain by someone.

The incident took place some 150 km from Bihar’s capital city Patna. After the video went viral, a probe was launched to investigate the source of the money at the drain. However, police are finding it hard to confirm the actual amount of money that was dumped in the drain as people took away most of it with them.

The witnesses at the scene share that they saw bundles of currency notes in the sewage drain. These witnesses claim that they saw Rs 100, Rs 200, and Rs 500 denominations as per Hindustan Live. One user shared the video on Twitter and wrote, “Currency note bundles of ₹100 and ₹10, were found floating in a sewer in a Bihar town, Sasaram, around 150 km from capital Patna.”

The people in the video grossed out many people on the internet as they decided to climb into a sewage drain to collect the free money. Mostly men entered the drain as they scavenged through a heap of garbage floating in the water to get to the cash. 

The Internet Was Stunned After Watching The People In The Video

People on the internet were clearly disgusted by the video. On user mentioned, “Kichaad se paise lene walonko Aaj dekh liye hum ne… Kahawat sach sabhit hogayi…”

Another thought about the aftermath of such actions is, “Now people will have to put this sewer currency in their purses. Go cashless.”

While one thought the people were simply cleaning up the drain, “I thought they are cleaning.”
