Nicolas Bruno might just be another photographer, but his pictures seem like horror movies, that can be unnerving. However, they represent something even more terrifying.
Nicolas suffers from sleep paralysis, which means that he experiences his nightmares more vividly than regular sleepers.

Sleep paralysis is a temporary loss of muscle function while you’re sleeping. It occurs when a person passes between stages of wakefulness and sleep, as per Healthline.
The condition makes the bodies paralyze themselves to stop us from acting out our dreams, but Bruno’s mind is awake and experiencing horrific hallucinations.

Nicholas Bruno has suffered from sleep paralysis since he was six years old. Now, he is using his skills with the lens to recreate his dreams in a bid to escape his fear and anxiety.
He has made it a medium to channel his experiences into drawings as a form of therapy.
“If you feed into the fear of a dream it lasts a lot longer, but if you make sense of the dream you can escape it,” Bruno told Nikonusa.com.
Bruno added that he has ‘absolutely no control over his dreams. But his sketches and photos are a way of regaining control or communicating to others what he sees.
“I have absolutely no control in these dreams, but once I wake up and go out and photograph, I finally have that control. I can show what’s it like. I have the ability to reenact what I’ve experienced.”
