Real-Life Ironman! British Inventor Richard Browning Flies In Jet Suit, The Internet Can't Get Over It

Ever since Robert Downey Jr.’s “Ironman” came out in 2008, people have been dreaming about the time when humans will have the technology to fly like Tony Stark in the movie. Well, it seems like the dream is finally coming true, as a new video of a man hovering inches above the ground went viral on the Internet.

The video was shared on Twitter by the account How Things Work, who captioned it, “This father constructed a functional Iron Man suit in his backyard and this was his first display in public.”

In the video, a man is seen at a media-packed event where he first charges up his gear and then starts to fly, just like Iron Man in the movie. The man wears a bulky jetpack and some thrusters on both of his hands, mimicking the Marvel hero.

Check out the video below:

While the Twitter account described the man as just a father tinkering in his backyard, it turns out the man is a British inventor and founder of the company Gravity Industries, which is behind the suit he wears in the video.

The Man In The Video Was Gravity Industries Founder Richard Browning

Richard Browing has spent 16 years working in the oil industry and 6 years in the Royal Marine Reserve. Browning bought the first jet engine in March 2016 when he started tinkering with the idea of flying while also juggling his busy job. He completed his first flight in November 2016, and then publicly launched Gravity Industries in 2017.

People on the internet were impressed by the Ironman-esque flying jet. One user pointed out how the machine will end up being a stepping stone for something bigger: “Wild to think about how we will look back upon this as though it’s a large wheeled bicycle.”

While another appeased Elon Musk, “Cut the check Elon. We need the Tesla version asap.”

One user demanded, “Let’s make it available on amazon. I need one that takes me to work.”

A second simply wrote, “that’s cool.”

A third wrote, “Mannnn I would have been cheering my ass off when he finished his display of FLYING THROUGH THE DAMN AIR! lol.”
