Shocking lane discipline followed by residents in Mizoram stuns netizens
In an extraordinary turn of events, a local from Aizawl shared an incredible view of the traffic on one of the city’s main streets. Unlike many other city jams that probably bring out the worst in people, residents in Mizoram’s capital were more than cordial. The civility of the people and their strict adherence to the rules shocked netizens and the image soon went viral.

In the image, it was clear that Mizoram has cultivated a culture of respect on the roads especially followed by the two-wheeler drivers who are often the ones most likely to bend the rules and get out of a sticky traffic jam by any means possible. Far from a cosmopolitan like Delhi which is infamous for its rash drivers, the people of Mizoram were seen lining up on a relatively open road, one after the other, in order to follow the one-lane rule.
The narrow road was functioning as a two-way without a partition but the lack of infrastructure did not seem to have hindered the traffic regulation on the street as two-wheelers were captured getting behind each other in a single line while patiently waiting for their turns to move an inch forward.

Similar images from the state have gone viral in the past as fellow Indians compare their city and people to those of a serene Mizoram that chooses peace over brawls on the road. Many travellers have also pointed out the surprising discipline of the citizens no matter the hold-up which stands in complete contrast to many other states of the country.

While a Reddit user shared the astounding image on the platform, netizens were almost confused by the compliance of the drivers.
One wrote, “What is this and why???” while another was impressed by the feat, “Lane discipline!!!” The click makes many around India wonder how Mizoram cultivated such an earnest society that focuses on every citizen’s safety and well-being.
The comments under the post also make for a clear picture of the rest of the Indian residents that are baffled by the peaceful situation of roads in Mizoram contrary to their urban experiences of waiting through a violent and aggressive traffic jam.
