After a woman mistakenly entered a cage meant for leopard near her village in Tapi district on Wednesday, she had to spend the whole night in it in the brutal winter. Kamli Khusal Chaudhary had gone to a dispensary for treatment and when she was coming back from there she entered the cage by mistake.

The forest department at Lotarva village had kept the cage to catch the leopard which they suspected was in the area. The woman was walking home and it was dark when she reached Lotarva village. As soon as she entered the cage it automatically shut and she was left with no option but to spend the night there.

Some villagers spotted her in the cage and got her released on the morning of December 27. They took her to the hospital as she was suffering from fever. Tapi district collector MK Damor said, “We are aware about the incident. It occurred at around 11 pm and therefore no one noticed her. However, she survived the ordeal and is now okay.”
